About Me
Mexico!
The very name conjures images ranging from exotic to mythical to dangerous.
And, like just about any nation, it’s each of those, in various quantities, at different times, in diverse locales.
For the tourist, Mexico offers a wide range of opportunities, from beaches to deserts to jungles to icy-topped volcanoes. Its culture ranges from dire penury to the descendants of the regal Mayas. Its cuisine goes from delicate seafood to fiery pork and beef concoctions.
Mexico has these attributes and far, far more.
I grew up in Arizona, hard by the Mexican border, and have long been fascinated with the culture. I’ve climbed the pyramids near Mexico City and those in the jungles of Yucatan. I’ve argued politics over Tecates with vaqueros in the cantinas of small towns. I’ve led groups on the trail of Pancho Villa. I’ve seen much, but by no means have I seen it all. That’s why I keep going back.
And that’s why I’ve invited others to join me in describing their adventures in Mexico. They have seen what I haven’t and walked where I’ve never been. You’ll get many points of view about our southern neighbor and learn much about its wonders and its beauty.
My name is Gary Dillard, and I still live in southern Arizona, by choice. I learn more about Mexico every day. So come back often (we’ll try to post every week) and join in the Mexico adventure. We’ll cover a wide range of topics. You’re welcome to add your comments so we can learn from one another.
Together, we’ll promote better understanding of Mexico and make all of our journeys more enjoyable.
